An opulent holiday at one of India's most prestigious luxury resorts turned into a high-stakes police case in Udaipur, Rajasthan. A Delhi-based private company employee stands accused of checking out of the world-renowned Oberoi Udaivilas hotel after a lavish 10-day stay with his family without clearing a substantial bill amounting to ₹5.74 lakh.

Ten-Day Luxury Stay Ends Without Payment

The incident came to light when Ravindra Singh, the liaisoning manager of the luxury property, lodged a formal criminal complaint at the Ambamata police station. According to police records shared by Sub-Inspector Ajayraj Singh, the accused, identified as Anurag Yadav, arrived at the resort accompanied by his wife and two children.

The family checked in on August 14 and enjoyed the resort's premium hospitality, including luxury accommodations, fine dining, and various high-end amenities, until their departure. However, when the time came to settle accounts upon checkout, the guest allegedly refused to clear the accumulated expenses.

The Travel Agency Dispute and Booking Claims

When presented with a final bill totaling ₹5.74 lakh, Yadav reportedly claimed that the financial liability lay with the booking entity and refused to pay directly.

Police investigation revealed that the reservation was initially facilitated through an email sent on August 12 by the Maker Baha Travel Agency. Upon being contacted by hotel authorities during the checkout dispute, representatives of the travel agency categorically denied any agreement or arrangement covering the payment of the family's extensive incidental and stay expenses.

Police Probe Potential Collusion and Fraud

Law enforcement authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation into the booking channels, digital communications, and financial transaction trails linking the guest, the travel agency, and the hotel management.

Initial findings suggest that investigators are probing potential collusion between the guest and external booking intermediaries to fraudulently avail luxury hospitality services without payment. As local police scrutinize communication records and corporate backgrounds, the case highlights growing vigilance among luxury hospitality establishments against fraudulent bookings and payment defaults.
