CJP Claims Deepak Baliyan Detained Ahead of Delhi Protest, Police Deny Action

Post

A fresh political controversy has erupted following allegations by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) that its organization co-incharge, Deepak Baliyan, was forcibly detained by the Rajasthan Police from his residence on Thursday. The accusation comes just ahead of the party's scheduled demonstration in the national capital against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. However, law enforcement authorities have firmly rejected the detention claims.

CJP Alleges Police Crackdown Ahead of Jantar Mantar Agitation

The controversy gained momentum after party leaders took to social media to raise alarms over Baliyan's status:

Party Leadership Claims: CJP leader Ashutosh Ranka claimed on Instagram that Deepak Baliyan was forcibly picked up by police personnel from his home and taken to the local police station. Ranka added that party workers and tractors were mobilizing outside the police facility in protest.

Agitation Context: The confrontation unfolds right before the outfit's announced demonstration at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on October 10 to demand accountability over electoral roll revisions.

Rajasthan Police Refutes Detention Allegations

Law enforcement officials in Rajasthan have categorically denied taking any leader into official custody:

Official Clarification: A police officer, speaking on the condition of anonymity, clarified that while officers visited Baliyan's residence in Kathumar town located in Rajasthan's Alwar district, no formal detention or arrest took place, confirming that he remains at his home.

Firm Protest Plans: Despite the friction, CJP founder Abhijit Dipke maintained that the party will proceed with its agitation at Jantar Mantar regardless of detentions. Dipke questioned the curbs placed on demonstrations in Delhi, pointing out that peaceful gatherings were permitted in Mumbai and Bengaluru. Earlier on Thursday, Dipke along with YouTuber Dhruv Rathee and actor-activist Prakash Raj staged a protest in Bengaluru demanding the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner.
