Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi went to Poonch District of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday to console the families suffering from the recent shelling by Pakistan. He came during the escalation of violence for the Line of Control (LoC) as multiple civilians, including women and children, were brutally killed.
Earlier in the day, Gandhi landed in Jammu, and from there, he went to Poonch. He went to the mourning family of Zoya and Zain, 12-year-old twins who died in the crossfire. His intent, at least in part, was reported to be rallying national attention in the legislature of India on the impacts of violence and tendering grief to the victims violence.
Encouragement After Tendering Grievance
He stated while attending the local school, that with sufficient effort, they can in fact transform into model citizens. Unlike other politicians, he did not focus entirely on grief. Rather, he took it a notch and aimed it toward positivity with the excuse of trying to encourage students to focus on learning.
He told the young ones, “You ought not to fret… everything will become as it was. You must try and respond to this situation in a manner that you study hard, play hard, and most importantly, have a lot of friends in school.”
A Call for National Attention
It was the second time Gandhi was visiting the province of Jammu and Kashmir in under a month. He simultaneously went to Srinagar on the 25th of April to attend the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack.
Speaking to the media after having a discussion with the family members of the victims, Gandhi said, “This is a very big tragedy. Some people have died. I met the people and talked to them. I tried to understand the concerns that they are facing. I got a request that they would want me to speak out on this matter at the national level… Oh yes, I shall do that.”
