By-elections will be held on four assembly seats in Punjab. Voting for these seats will be held on November 13. Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has released the list of its candidates. The Aam Aadmi Party has shared the list of candidates on the social media platform ‘X’. AAP has fielded Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon from Gidderbaha. He left the Shiromani Akali Dal and joined the AAP in August.
AAP has fielded Ishan Chabbewal, son of party MP from Hoshiarpur, Raj Kumar Chabbewal, from the Chabbewal (reserved) seat. Harinder Singh Dhaliwal is the party’s candidate from the Barnala seat and Gurdeep Singh Randhawa from the Dera Baba Nanak seat. By-elections on 4 assembly seats have become necessary because the MLAs representing these seats have been elected to the Lok Sabha.
Why are these seats vacant?
Congress MLA from Gidderbaha Amarinder Singh Raja Warring won the Ludhiana Lok Sabha seat. Former Congress MLA Raj Kumar Chabbewal later joined the AAP. He was elected to the Lok Sabha from Hoshiarpur. Congress MLA from Dera Baba Nanak Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa was elected from the Gurdaspur parliamentary seat and AAP MLA from Barnala Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer was elected from the Sangrur Lok Sabha seat. The counting of votes for the by-election will take place on November 23.
Let us tell you that the total number of voters in these four constituencies is 696,316 and a total of 831 polling stations have been set up. There are 193,268 voters in Dera Baba Nanak and 241 polling stations have been set up. The total number of voters in Gidderbaha is 166,489 and 173 polling stations have been set up.
