On April 25, Droupadi Murmu, the President of India, will travel to Vatican City for the funeral of Pope Francis. She will be accompanied by Kiren Rijiju, India’s Minister of Parliamentary and Minority Affairs, George Kurian, Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Fisheries, and Joshua De Souza, the Deputy Speaker of Goa’s Legislative Assembly. Expressing Condolences for India  

The purpose of President Murmu’s two day visit to the Vatican is to inform the public of India’s condolences regarding the passing of Pope Francis. Her plan is to place a wreath on the late Pope's head for a basilica on Saint Peter's located at Rome.  

Pope Francis died on Easter Monday at the age of 88, and his funeral took place on the 26th of April in the Vatican's Saint Peter's Square. He was the first non European pope in over 1300 years.  

Global Leaders to Attend Funeral Ceremony  

As stated by India's Ministry of External Affairs, many other International Government representatives are anticipated to arrive for the funeral mass. Murmu is also expected to {pay respects along with other international delegates.  

India also Publicly announced a three days of mourning for Pope Francis after his passing.
