In the aftermath of a tragic rape and murder case involving a Dalit girl working at a private hospital in Durgaganj market, Pratapgarh SP Dr. Anil Kumar has taken strict action against local police officials. The incident occurred during the victim’s duty hours in the Raniganj police station area.

Senior Officers Held Accountable

Inspector Aditya Kumar Singh (Raniganj) and Outpost In-charge Rohit Yadav (Durgaganj) have been relieved of their responsibilities. The SP’s report stated that their negligent and stubborn behavior led to public unrest in Durgaganj.

Crime Branch Takes Over

To ensure a more thorough investigation, Inspector Shravan Kumar Singh, in charge of the Crime Branch, has been appointed to lead the Raniganj police station. The reshuffle comes after growing public discontent over the mishandling of the case by the local police.

Wider Police Department Transfers Ordered

The SP has also reshuffled multiple officers in the district:

Inspector Gulab Chandra Sonkar is now the in-charge of Kandhai police station.

Inspector Avan Dixit has taken charge at Patti police station.

Alok Kumar, former in-charge of Patti, has been shifted to head the social media cell.

Santosh Kumar Singh now leads Nawabganj police station.

Dhirendra Thakur has been transferred to Aspur Devsara.

Public Reaction and Administrative Response

The SP emphasized that the reshuffle was necessary to restore public confidence and accountability within the police force. The actions follow protests and widespread criticism of the initial police response in Durgaganj.
