As per sources, at least six MoUs will be signed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jeddah on Tuesday, with more agreements expected to be added in the ongoing talks from Monday night.

Modi is expected to talk about the Hajj-related matters including the Indian pilgrim quota with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, during their evening meeting. From the deliverables, both sides have in-principle agreements regarding space, energy, health, science and scientific research, culture, and advanced technology.

An official told PTI, “Meetings in Riyadh continued late Monday to finalize details, with over a dozen MoUs under discussion, some to be signed at the official level.” They noted that there were last-minute deals to be signed before the Indian Prime Minister's arrival that centered on trade, investment, defense, and other agreements.

Modi has been invited by the Crown Prince, which is why he will land on Tuesday afternoon. This marks 40 years since an Indian prime minister visited Jeddah.

"Jeddah is a very important city in relation to both India and Saudi Arabia because it has served as the port of trade for both countries for centuries. It is also the gateway to Mecca. So anyone who is coming for Umrah and Hajj lands up in Jeddah and then goes to Mecca,” told PTI Indian ambassador to Saudi Arabia – Suhel Ajaz khan, ahead of Prime Minister’s visit.

“Every single year, Hajj is done as a physical activity or task and it is very much considered of utmost significance. And we in India spends higher amounts of effort trying to accommodate Hajj pilgrimage. The Ministry of Minority Affairs has been putting in efforts to organize this activity… So many discussions take place in the Bilateral level talk. There has always been great coordination between the Saudi Government and India regarding Hajj,” he said.

Begins with the year 2014, India’s quota for Hajj multiplied from one lakh thirty six thousand and twenty to one lakh seventy five thousand and twenty five. Furthermore, arrangements with plenty of around one lakh twenty two thousand five hundred eighteen has been finalized.21 But, has been delay and no comes forward by Combined Hajj Group Operators in contracting violence. So this is why India’s sacred pilgrimage in year this so around four two thousand.”

During the PM's visit in 2019, a bilateral partnership was formed which led to the Saudi Arabia-India Strategic Partnership Council. Modi is set to work with the Crown Prince to conduct the second council meeting. The Indian PM plans to visit an Indian-staffed factory on Wednesday, a site he is already familiar with from plans he previously announced. He was awarded Saudi Arabia's highest medal in 2016.
