A recent meeting in New Delhi between National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has sparked optimism about India-China ties. Doval pointed out that this conversation is important because Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in China soon.

Peace and harmony has prevailed, Doval declared. He noted that the situation along the border remains stable and that this quiet has helped to strengthen all other areas of the relationship. He also referenced last year's meeting in Kazan between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Modi, saying the talks there set helpful new goals that know continue to guide cooperation in trading, technology, and other important fields.

At the same time, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi welcomed his meeting with Doval. He pointed out that roller-coaster moments in recent years serve neither India nor China. Wang recalled the earlier Kazan meeting, remarking that it already charted a path to resolving the border issue and improving overall India-China ties.

The SCO summit will take place from August 31 to September 1.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to China will mark his first in seven years. He is headed to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit being held in Tianjin. This will be his first trip to the nation since the 2020 Galwan clash. China, in its capacity as SCO presidency, will host leaders from Russia, Pakistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, along with other member states and observers.
