Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a blistering attack on the opposition during a fiery election rally in Siwan, Bihar, accusing the past governments of the Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) of plunging the state into an era of deep-seated poverty, forced migration, and widespread lawlessness.
Using their well-known election symbols—the 'Panja' (hand) for Congress and the 'Laltern' (lantern) for the RJD—Modi painted a stark picture of Bihar's past. He argued that under their collective rule, the state became a symbol of backwardness, a period often referred to by his party as the "jungle raj," where crime flourished and development stagnated. The Prime Minister claimed that the "lantern" only served to benefit one family, leaving the youth of Bihar with no choice but to migrate in search of a better future.
In a direct and powerful contrast, Modi positioned his NDA government as an agent of progress and welfare. He highlighted major initiatives like the free ration program for 80 crore people and the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme as proof of his commitment to the poor. He used the potent metaphor of moving Bihar "from the age of the lantern to the age of the LED bulb" to symbolize the shift from a past of darkness and neglect to a future of light and development.
Beyond local governance, the Prime Minister touched upon his government's record on national issues, accusing the opposition of indulging in "vote bank politics" and appeasement. He defended his administration's decisive actions, such as the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), presenting them as steps taken in the national interest.
The speech, delivered in support of the NDA candidate for the Siwan constituency, was a clear and aggressive pitch to voters, urging them to reject the "dynastic" and "corrupt" politics of the past and continue supporting the NDA's vision for a "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India).
