Pakistan’s women’s cricket team started the T20 World Cup 2024 in a great way. On the strength of captain Fatima Sana’s all-round performance and spinners, Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 31 runs in Sharjah. In this way, the Pakistan team managed to make a great start to its campaign in the Women’s T20 World Cup. Batting first, Pakistan’s team collapsed for 116 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, but its spinners made this score like a mountain for Sri Lanka. The result was that the Sri Lankan team could score only 85 runs after losing 9 wickets. Captain Fatima Sana played an important role in this victory of Pakistan, who performed brilliantly with the ball and bat. Fatima Sana played an innings of 30 runs off 20 balls and then took two wickets for 10 runs.

Fatima created a record.

With this victory, Fatima created history. Fatima is the second youngest captain to win a match in the Women’s T20 World Cup. The record of achieving this feat at the youngest age is in the name of Meg Lanning. Lanning won the T20 World Cup match as captain at the age of 21 years 11 months and 29 days, while Fatima Sana has done the same feat at the age of 22 years 10 months and 25 days.

 Sadia Iqbal took 3 wickets.

Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal was the most successful bowler for Pakistan. She took three wickets for 17 runs in four overs. She also got good support from left-arm spinner Nashra Sandhu and off-spinner Amima Sohail. Nashra Sandhu took 2 wickets for 15 runs while Amima took 2 wickets for 17 runs.

Pakistan team, which won the toss and came out to bat first, had a bad start. The team lost three wickets for a score of 32 runs in the power play itself. Experienced Nida Dar (23) tried to handle the innings along with Amima Sohail (18), but after the 25-run partnership for the fourth wicket was broken, Pakistan’s middle order faltered. In such a situation, Fatima Sana took responsibility and took Pakistan to a respectable score. Fatima hit three fours and a six in her innings.
