Suspense crime, Digital Desk : In the wake of a shocking terror attack that injured two tourists in the popular resort town of Pahalgam, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has voiced strong support for a probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). More importantly, he has issued a powerful defense of the local residents, asserting that they had no involvement in aiding the terrorists.

The attack, which targeted a tourist couple from Jaipur, has sent shockwaves through the Kashmir Valley, a region heavily dependent on tourism for its livelihood. The incident is particularly concerning as it comes just ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra, a major pilgrimage for which Pahalgam serves as a base camp.

Speaking to reporters, the National Conference leader emphasized that the people of Pahalgam would be the last to support such violence. He explained that unlike other areas that may have different economic mainstays, Pahalgam's economy is almost entirely built on tourism.

"The people of Pahalgam are not involved in this," Abdullah stated firmly. "Their livelihood is 100% connected to tourism. An attack on a tourist is an attack on their own stomach. They know this."

Abdullah argued that a thorough and professional investigation by the NIA is crucial to swiftly identify and punish the perpetrators. He stressed the importance of bringing the culprits to justice to restore confidence and ensure the safety of both tourists and pilgrims.

His statement serves as both a call for decisive action against terrorism and a crucial vote of confidence in the local community, urging authorities and the public not to cast a shadow of suspicion over the people whose lives and economy have been directly threatened by this act of violence.
