The Jammu and Kashmir Police have filed a complaint against social media personality Orhan Awatraman, popularly known as Orry, and seven others for consuming alcohol near the Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra. Among those booked is Russian national Anastasila Arzamaskina. The group is accused of violating the District Magistrate’s regulations and disrespecting religious sentiments.
Violation of Prohibitions in Katra
Orry and his friends allegedly consumed alcohol inside their hotel premises in the Cottage Suite area of Katra. This location falls under strict regulations that prohibit alcohol and non-vegetarian food due to its proximity to the revered Vaishno Devi shrine, a significant Hindu pilgrimage site.
As a result, the group has been charged under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which addresses violations of public order and religious sanctity.

Police Investigations and Official Response
Following public outrage and a formal complaint, SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh directed strict action against the accused. Authorities emphasized a zero-tolerance policy for any actions that disrupt the sanctity of religious places.

A police official confirmed to Times Now that a special investigation team has been formed under the supervision of SP Katra, Dy SP Katra, and SHO Katra. Notices will be sent to all accused, including Orry, instructing them to cooperate with the investigation.

The controversy gained traction after Orry shared a video of his visit to the Vaishno Devi shrine, which quickly went viral on social media. In the video, he can be seen enjoying time with his friends while flaunting his phone cover. However, social media users were quick to point out alcohol bottles visible on the table, leading to severe criticism and backlash.
