Suspense crime, Digital Desk : In a decisive move to ensure the safety of its citizens, the Indian government has successfully evacuated 292 Indian nationals from Iran under a special mission codenamed "Operation Sindhu." The first flight of the operation, carrying the evacuees, landed safely in Mumbai on Sunday morning.
The evacuation was launched in response to escalating geopolitical instability in the Middle East, particularly the heightened conflict between Iran and Israel. The Indian government had previously issued advisories urging its citizens in the region to exercise extreme caution and consider returning home.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar confirmed the successful mission on social media. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he stated, "The first flight in Operation Sindhu, carrying 292 Indian nationals, has landed in Mumbai. This was facilitated by the Indian Embassy in Tehran. We are committed to the safety and well-being of our citizens. This is Modi ki Guarantee."
The group of returning citizens was diverse, comprising students, professionals, and businesspeople who were in Iran for various purposes. The Indian Embassy in Tehran played a crucial role in coordinating with the individuals and facilitating their smooth and safe departure.
This operation underscores the Indian government's proactive stance on protecting its diaspora during international crises. As tensions in the region remain high, "Operation Sindhu" serves as a critical lifeline for Indians wishing to return from the conflict zone, reaffirming the nation's commitment to the welfare of its citizens abroad.
