Suspense crime, Digital Desk : A new player has entered India's wireless broadband market, offering fiber-like internet speeds without the need for physical cables. A company named BSN-Quantum Telecom, using BSNL's robust network infrastructure, has launched its 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service, presenting a direct competitor to offerings like Jio AirFiber and Airtel Xstream AirFiber.
This service is designed to bridge the connectivity gap, especially in areas where laying fiber optic cables is difficult or not feasible. Here's everything you need to know about the new service.
What is 5G FWA and How Does It Work?
Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) technology uses 5G mobile networks to deliver high-speed internet directly to your home or office. Instead of a fiber cable coming into your house, the service works through two main components:
- Outdoor Unit (ODU): A device installed on your terrace or roof that captures the 5G signal.
- Indoor Unit (IDU): This is essentially your Wi-Fi router, which receives the signal from the ODU and broadcasts it throughout your home.
There is a one-time installation charge of ₹5,000 for the setup of this hardware.
