Suspense crime, Digital Desk : MI New York, the reigning champions of Major League Cricket (MLC), have announced a significant change in leadership ahead of the tournament's second season. Explosive wicketkeeper-batsman Nicholas Pooran has been appointed as the new captain of the franchise.

The move comes as the team's inaugural title-winning skipper, Kieron Pollard, takes on a new responsibility as the batting coach for the England cricket team for their ongoing T20 World Cup campaign and subsequent tours. While stepping down from the captaincy, Pollard will continue to be a vital part of the MI New York squad as a player, providing his invaluable experience on the field.

Pooran's appointment is a natural progression. The left-handed batsman was the undisputed hero of MI New York's championship run in 2023. He finished the tournament as the leading run-scorer and delivered one of the most memorable innings in franchise T20 history in the final, smashing an unbeaten 137 off just 55 balls to single-handedly win the title for his team.

Currently in stellar form for the West Indies in the T20 World Cup, Pooran also has prior captaincy experience, having led both the West Indies national team and the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL. His aggressive brand of cricket and proven leadership qualities make him the ideal candidate to lead MI New York's title defense when the MLC season kicks off on July 5.
