NCW Stands by Himanshi Narwal Amid Social Media Backlash After Pahalgam Terror Attack:

Suspense crime, Digital Desk : The NCW has come out in vigorous support of Himanshi Narwal, the spouse of the deceased Lt Vinay Narwal, who recently fell victim to a terrorist attack in South Kashmir’s Pahalgam. They highlighted how assaulting a woman in this fashion for any expression of her views or personal life is abhorrent.

Peace Should Be Universal

After the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22, which resulted in the death of 26 people, Himanshi Narwal quoted urging people not to target Muslims or Kashmiris. ‘We do not want people gunning after Muslims and Kashmiris,’ she said.

Himanshi became the target of social media criticism. The NCW posted a statement on X coming to defense for the cyber bullying she sustained.

Public Disagreement Must Stay Respectful

While the NCW acknowledged that some of her comments could be out of touch, the responses still need to be respectful and measured within the constitution. The National Council for Women remarked that there needs to be discriminating lines between disagreement and personal attacks.

Controversial Comments of the Attack Context

During the attack, it is alleged that Lt. Vinay Narwal was shot while being asked what his religion was. This incident created a huge level of outrage in all parts of India. In spite of this, Himanshi did try to appeal for peace and unity within the country without blaming any religion.

In its appeal, NCW expressed aims for ire to not turned towards compare women as members of the society. “Every woman’s dignity and respect is valuable,” the commission pointed out.

A blood donation camp was organized in Karnal on May 1 as it marked Lt. Narwal’s Narwal 27th birthday which he could not celebrate. The event was solely organized by National Integrated Forum of Artist and Activists NIFAA and it garned a hoard of attendees.

While paying homage, Himanshi who is also the founder floral tribute and prayed to the almighty to bless her husband’s soul. In fact, she further endorsed her statement saying, everyone should not hate anyone. So to simply put it — we want only peace.
