Suspense crime, Digital Desk : In context of the escalation of conflict between India and Pakistan, the government has ordered a national level drill of civil defence exercise to be performed on the 7th of May, Wednesday. For the purpose of testing emergency response protocol throughout 244 districts, Prime Minister Modi has been conducting multi-tier meetings and incessant follow up sessions.  

As per the information available, 19 sites have been chosen for the exercise in the state of Uttar Pradesh, as per DGP Prashant Kumar. The regions are segregated into three categories according to the degree of sensitivity and importance from a strategic outlook.  

Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar said that the drill will be conducted along with the civil administration, police, fire brigade, disaster management and emergency services, which will result in a full-scale document of conflict response simulation along with a set of operational drills to ensure maximised readiness.

Places in Uttar Pradesh are classified in the following way:

Narora is a part of Bulandshahr’s Area A.

Agra, Allahabad, Bareilly, Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Kanpur, Lucknow, Mathura, Meerut, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Varanasi, Bakshi Ka Talab, Mughalsarai, and Sarsawa belong to Zone B.

Baghpat and Muzaffarnagar constitute Zone C.

Anticipating Activities In The Civil Defence Mock Drill

The overwatch exercise is set to become the first war readiness drill of this magnitude in India since 1971. The following situation will be practiced too:

Raising of air raid sirens.
Complete blackouts in the city.
Evacuation to safety zones.

Scores of people have already planned to carry out these readiness checks in other states like Jammu & Kashmir as well as Gujarat.

The main purpose is to analyze the procedures and enhance the level of public safety and inter-organization relations concerning respond to major incidents of hostility or extensive emergency situations.
