Weather Update: Winter has started, mercury dropped to 0 degrees in Churu, shivering increased in Delhi too

The cold has started showing its colors. Cold weather has increased in most areas of North India including the national capital Delhi. In Churu, Rajasthan, the mercury has dropped to zero degrees Celsius. A cold wave warning has been issued in some districts of the state from today. According to the website of the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in Sriganganagar on Saturday morning was 6 degrees Celsius and 7 degrees in Jaipur. The minimum temperature of Delhi was recorded at 7 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has forecast that the mercury in Delhi may reach 5 degrees Celsius by Sunday. Snowfall in the hill states has also increased the cold in the plains. Heavy snowfall has occurred in many parts of Uttarakhand, Jammu, and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh. Its effect is being seen in the plains. According to the website of IMD, the mercury dropped to zero degrees Celsius in Churu, Rajasthan on Saturday. The maximum temperature there was recorded at 18 degrees. According to the Meteorological Department, it will be cold on Sunday as well. The minimum temperature on Saturday morning in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, was 11 degrees.

The temperature has gone below 10 degrees Celsius in many districts of UP. At the same time, the Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of cold waves and fog in the coming days. Due to this, the chill will increase further in the coming week in the plains. On the other hand, migratory birds have started coming to Surat in Gujarat. Due to the icy winds coming from the mountains, the winter season has started increasing in the capital. Despite the strong sun, it is chilly all day due to the winds. According to the Meteorological Department, the outbreak of cold will increase further in the coming two days. The sky will be clear on Saturday. There will be light fog. The maximum temperature can be recorded up to 20 degrees and the minimum temperature up to seven degrees. Thereafter, the minimum temperature will drop further. On December 19 and 20, it can remain only 5 degrees. On December 21, it will reach 6 degrees.

On December 22, the effect of a Western Disturbance will be visible over Delhi and due to that, the minimum temperature may rise back to 9 degrees by December 23. But the maximum temperature will remain in the range of 20 to 23 degrees even during this period. After 22 December, it will be partly cloudy again. In Noida, adjoining Delhi, Friday was the coldest day in the last month. On Friday, Noida recorded a maximum temperature of 20 degrees and a minimum of 8 degrees. The sun was not shining on Friday and the meeting was very high. In such a situation, there was hardly any sunlight. People are coming out of their homes even less to avoid the cold. Heaters, blowers, and fire extinguishers are used to protect against cold.

The softening of the sun along with the chilly wind has changed the mood of the weather. The Meteorological Department has forecast that the trend of cold winds will continue in the coming days. It may be foggy on Saturday morning. With the increase in wind speed, the effect of cold has increased in the district. There has been a slight drop in the maximum temperature along with the minimum temperature. Due to the prevailing wind, the trend of drop in temperature is expected to continue in the coming days. According to the officials of the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature may reach 6 degrees Celsius in the next two days, while the maximum temperature is expected to remain only up to 19 degrees Celsius.
