Stay Away from Jantar Mantar! Delhi University Issues Safety Advisory to Students Amid NEET-UG Protests
Amid intensifying student demonstrations over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak controversy, Delhi University (DU) has issued an official safety advisory urging students, faculty members, and staff to strictly refrain from participating in unauthorised assemblies or protests at New Delhi's Jantar Mantar.
On social media platform X, the university administration said demonstrations at Jantar Mantar are tightly regulated under Supreme Court of India directives. DU warned that involvement in unlawful gatherings could trigger strict legal action from law enforcement agencies, posing serious risks to personal safety and causing long-term damage to students' academic records and future career opportunities.
Prioritise Academic Safety and Beware of Misinformation: DU Advisory
Addressing the university fraternity directly, DU emphasised the paramount importance of student safety and urged everyone to prioritise compliance with the law. The administration noted that a significant amount of fake and misleading content, including manipulated media, is being circulated online to fuel campus unrest.
Students are advised to exercise extreme caution, verify information through verified channels, and avoid being misled by social media campaigns intended to disrupt academic stability.
Nationwide Protest Call and Government's Dialogue Outreach
The advisory comes in the backdrop of a nationwide protest call issued by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), demanding systemic educational reforms, accountability, and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged examination irregularities.
While the central government has repeatedly appealed for peaceful dialogue—offering formal discussion venues through Union Ministers—the protesting groups have insisted on talks held at a neutral venue. Meanwhile, heightened security arrangements and traffic diversions continue to remain in place across central Delhi to maintain public order.
