PM Modi to address youth at Khelo India Dialogue on August 27
Khelo India Dialogue: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the Khelo India Dialogue on August 27 at 11 AM through video conferencing. The programme will focus on sports, youth leadership, civic responsibility, volunteering, fitness and nation-building. It will also give young people a platform to share their ideas and aspirations.
According to PIB, the event is being organised by Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) as part of the National Sports Day 2026 celebrations. The programme will be held across the country. Youth from two colleges in every district across states and Union Territories will take part.
The initiative is aimed at engaging young people in India's sporting journey. It will also encourage them to contribute ideas towards a youth-led Viksit Bharat.
Youth to interact with athletes
The Khelo India Dialogue will be followed by local interactions. Young participants, MY Bharat volunteers, local sportspersons and public representatives will take part in these sessions.
Young people interested in sports will also get an opportunity to interact directly with leading Indian athletes and medal winners.
A key part of the programme will be Yuva Samvaad. Young participants will share their ideas, views and aspirations during the discussions.
Five key themes of Yuva Samvaad
The discussions will focus on five key themes.
- improving India's sports ecosystem through better facilities, coaching, sports science and inclusive participation;
- nurturing talent for the 2036 Olympics via scientific talent identification, transparent selection and long-term athlete development;
- creating youth leaders through governance platforms and MY Bharat-led volunteering;
- empowering youth for Viksit Bharat by building civic-mindedness, future-ready skills and structured volunteering;
- promoting a Nasha Mukt Yuva movement that leverages sport and peer networks to fight substance abuse, reinforced by weekly Jan Bhagidari activities under PM's 100-week nationwide campaign launched on 2 August 2026.
The Khelo India Dialogue aims to place youth aspirations at the centre of India's sports and national development agenda.
PM Modi extends Onam, Eid Greetings
On a separate note, Prime Minister Modi on Wednesday extended his greetings to people across India and around the world on the occasions of Onam and Eid Milad-un-Nabi. He wished people happiness, togetherness and prosperity on Onam. He also extended Eid greetings and hoped that the occasion would spread joy and strengthen the spirit of kindness and giving back to society.
Taking to social media platform X, the Prime Minister conveyed his wishes on Onam and said, "Wishing everyone a beautiful Onam. This is a vibrant festival celebrated with great enthusiasm all over the world. May this festival further empower the spirit of happiness, togetherness, and prosperity. Have a wonderful Onam. This is a vibrant festival that is being marked all over the world with immense fervour. May it further the spirit of happiness, togetherness and prosperity."
He also extended greetings on Eid Milad-un-Nabi and said, "Eid Mubarak! Greetings on Milad-un-Nabi. I hope this occasion furthers togetherness and joy all around us. May the spirit of kindness and giving back to society always guide us."
PM Modi reviews infrastructure projects worth Rs 30,000 crore
Earlier, PM Modi reviewed six major infrastructure projects worth more than Rs 30,000 crore across nine states. The projects cover the railway, road and power sectors. At the 53rd PRAGATI meeting, he said delays in projects not only increase costs but also delay benefits for citizens and the economy. He called for an end-to-end approach to project monitoring, better use of technology and strict quality checks. He also stressed the need to use Artificial Intelligence and other digital tools in agriculture and improve awareness and training to prevent cyber fraud.
