MP Tribal Art, Bagh Print, and Malwa-Nimar Culture Set to Shine at Rashtrapati Bhavan's Independence Day 'At Home' Reception

As India prepares to commemorate its 80th Independence Day on August 15, the historic Rashtrapati Bhavan is getting ready to host its prestigious traditional 'At Home' reception. In a proud moment for central India, the rich tribal culture, heritage, and exquisite art forms of Madhya Pradesh will take center stage at the grand event. President Droupadi Murmu will welcome an esteemed gathering of approximately 500 guests, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers, senior political leaders, foreign diplomats, ambassadors, and international dignitaries.
Unique Tribal Artistry and Regional Craftsmanship on Display
Preparations inside Rashtrapati Bhavan are in full swing to create an immersive cultural experience for attendees. The dining and guest tables will be meticulously decorated with unique artwork representing the vibrant traditions of Madhya Pradesh's Malwa-Nimar region, alongside the colorful motifs of Bhil and Gond tribal art, and the intricate patterns of the ancient Bagh print.
In addition to Madhya Pradesh's cultural highlights, the showcase will feature traditional installations representing a Bhil community home, a Gond courtyard, a tribal wedding venue, traditional metal art from neighboring Chhattisgarh, and geometric artworks from Maharashtra and Goa. Adding to the regal atmosphere, royal silver utensils paired with the President's special crockery set will feature a unique tiger print art design, beautifully narrating the story of India’s ancient crafts and heritage.
An Artistic and Sustainable Invitation Card Design
The grandeur of the event has already captured public attention, starting with the specially curated invitation cards sent to dignitaries. Designed in collaboration with the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, the invitation package serves as a powerful symbol of artistic expression, sustainable environmental practices, and community participation.
The core theme and aesthetic of the invitation draw inspiration from the diverse cultural traditions, mountainous terrains, and deep-rooted ecological conservation efforts of four key states: Chhattisgarh, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra, setting the tone for a celebration that bridges India's glorious past with its modern unity.
