Post

Panchkula: Parts of Haryana continued to experience relief from intense summer heat while eastern Uttar Pradesh remained under heatwave conditions, according to the latest weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

During the past 24 hours, rain and thunderstorm activity were reported at isolated places across northwest India, while Uttarakhand witnessed rainfall at a few locations. Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir also received isolated precipitation. Heatwave conditions persisted at a few places in East Uttar Pradesh, where Banda recorded the highest maximum temperature of 43.8 degrees Celsius in the plains of northwest India.

The IMD said maximum temperatures were markedly below normal at isolated places in Haryana and west Rajasthan. Temperatures were also below normal in parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan, providing relief from the prolonged spell of extreme heat. For the next seven days, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi are likely to witness only isolated rainfall activity till June 26, followed by largely dry weather on June 27 and June 28. Isolated rain is again expected towards the end of the forecast period.

In contrast, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to witness scattered rainfall over the coming days, with precipitation activity expected to become fairly widespread by June 29 and June 30. Similar conditions are forecast over parts of Uttar Pradesh towards the end of the month.

The IMD has indicated that there will be no significant change in maximum temperatures across the plains of northwest India during the next 48 hours. Temperatures may rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius thereafter, then decline towards the end of the forecast period.
