Good News for Delhi-Jaipur Highway Commuters: Barrier-Free Tolling from August 1

If you frequently travel on the busy Delhi-Jaipur section of National Highway 48 (NH-48), there is excellent news for you. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has rolled out a new system designed to make your journey seamless and barrier-free, saving you both time and fuel.
Starting tomorrow, August 1, 2026, a completely barrier-less tolling system will be live across the Gurugram-Jaipur corridor of NH-48.
The Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) System Explained
NHAI is implementing the Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling system on this route. In this advanced setup, there are no physical barriers at the toll plazas. Vehicles can pass through without stopping, and the user fee is deducted automatically. This zero-waiting-time framework not only enhances convenience but also reduces vehicular emissions and improves overall highway efficiency.
Where is this New System Active?
The MLFF technology is currently active at the following toll plazas on the Delhi-Jaipur NH-48 route:
Daulatpura Toll Plaza (Operational since June 19, 2026)
Manoharpura Toll Plaza
As of August 1, 2026, the Shahjahanpur Toll Plaza will also transition to the MLFF system, making the entire Gurugram-Jaipur stretch barrier-free.
How Does Automatic Toll Deduction Work?
The MLFF system relies on the integration of two key technologies: high-performance Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) readers for FASTag, and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras.
As your vehicle drives through the toll area, the ANPR cameras capture your vehicle registration number while the RFID readers scan your active FASTag. The appropriate toll amount is then automatically deducted from your linked FASTag account, requiring minimal human intervention.
Crucial Checklist Before You Travel
To ensure a seamless travel experience under the new MLFF system, drivers must keep the following points in mind:
Maintain Sufficient Balance: Always check that your FASTag account has adequate funds before beginning your journey.
Ensure Proper Placement: Your FASTag must be correctly affixed to the vehicle's windshield and fully functional.
Keep Number Plates Clean: Ensure your vehicle's license plate is clearly visible and easy for the ANPR cameras to read.
Check Active Status: Verify that your FASTag is active and not blocked.
What Happens if FASTag Fails or Balance is Low?
If a vehicle passes through an MLFF toll location with an invalid, non-functional, or insufficiently funded FASTag, the system will utilise the ANPR cameras to identify the vehicle.
The user will automatically be issued an Electronic Notice (E-Notice) for the non-payment of the toll fee. Commuters are given a 72-hour window from the generation of this notice to pay the standard toll rate. If payment isn't received within this timeframe, the defaulting vehicle will be charged double the normal toll amount for its category. These penalties can be paid via the Parivahan portal or the Rajmargyatra mobile application.
