The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly welcomed the inclusion of the Pahalgam terror attack in the newly adopted BRICS New Delhi Declaration, hailing it as a monumental diplomatic triumph for India. Following the conclusion of the 18th BRICS Summit, senior party leaders emphasized that the unanimous condemnation of the tragic April 22, 2025, attack—which claimed 26 lives in Jammu and Kashmir—demonstrates India's growing diplomatic clout and its ability to rally global consensus on vital security issues. The ruling party noted that the declaration reflects India’s steadfast dedication to fostering international cooperation, championing the interests of the Global South, and establishing a just, balanced global order.

Zero Tolerance Against Terrorism and Dismantling Safe Havens

Highlighting the specific text of the joint declaration, BJP spokespersons underscored that the BRICS member nations adopted an uncompromising stance against extremism. The declaration calls for absolute zero tolerance toward terrorism, demanding strict accountability for perpetrators, targeted action against UN-designated terrorists and extremist organizations, and the complete elimination of cross-border terror networks and safe havens. Party leaders stressed that the international community has rejected double standards, establishing a unified framework that strengthens India's long-standing campaign against cross-border terrorism.

Strengthening the Voice of the Global South Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Reflecting on India's leadership during the BRICS 2026 summit, BJP President Nitin Naveen remarked on social media that New Delhi has once again proven its capability to give developing, least developed, and middle-income nations a powerful voice on the world stage. National spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari and National Vice President Baijayant Jai Panda echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, India will continue to advocate for peaceful conflict resolution, diplomatic dialogue, and a more representative multilateral framework that champions the priorities of the Global South.
