Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Nara Lokesh, general secretary of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), may soon be elevated to the position of working president. According to a report by the Indian Express, this new post is being introduced to enhance the party's operational leadership. Lokesh is currently serving as the Minister for Human Resource Development, Information Technology, Electronics, and Communication in Andhra Pradesh.

A senior party insider stated that Chandrababu Naidu will retain his role as the national president, while Palla Srinivasa Rao will continue as the state unit president. The formal announcement for Lokesh’s new role may be made during TDP’s three-day conclave, Mahanadu, starting Tuesday in Kadapa.

Appointment Timing May Depend on Chief Minister’s Decision
Sources suggest that while the decision has been internally discussed, the official declaration could be delayed. If Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu decides that the Mahanadu platform isn’t appropriate for the announcement, it may be postponed.

Lokesh’s Strategic Role in TDP’s 2024 Success
At 42, Nara Lokesh has played a crucial role in TDP’s landslide win in the 2024 Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. The TDP-BJP alliance secured 164 out of 175 assembly seats and 21 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats, gaining over 53% of the vote share.

In 2019, Lokesh lost his debut election in Mangalagiri by over 5,000 votes. However, he bounced back in 2024, winning the same seat with a margin exceeding 91,000 votes. His extensive padayatra covering 3,132 kilometers was cited as a major factor in the TDP’s revival.

Party insiders confirm that Chandrababu Naidu has full confidence in Lokesh's leadership. His decisions are rarely questioned, highlighting a strong backing from the party's top tier.
