Netflix is diving deep into one of India's most foundational epics with its first-ever mythological animated series, "KurukshetraThe show promises a fresh take on the legendary Mahabharata, focusing on the climactic 18-day war that stands at the heart of the ancient story.
Instead of a single, overarching narrative, the series will explore the monumental conflict through the eyes of 18 different warriors. This unique approach aims to delve into the personal dilemmas, moral struggles, and devastating choices each character faces when pitted against their own kin in a catastrophic war.
What makes this announcement even more special is the involvement of the legendary poet and lyricist, Gulzar. His masterful words will lend lyrical depth to the series, adding a layer of profound emotion to the animated retelling of this timeless tale.
"Kurukshetra" is conceptualized and created by Anu Sikka, with Ujaan Ganguly handling the writing and direction.The production is being managed by Tipping Point, with Anu Sikka, Alok Jain, and Ajit Andhare serving as producers.
The series is designed to be accessible to a new generation, presenting the age-old themes of duty, destiny, and choice in a format that feels modern and compelling.Netflix plans to release the show in two installments of nine episodes each, allowing for a deep dive into the complex events and characters.
