After the tragic Pahalgam terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in 26 casualties, the Home Department of the State of Maharashtra has ordered the Mumbai Police to intensify surveillance along the coastlines. The entire city of Mumbai is under 'high alert'; multiple security checks have been established at public locations including ports and jetties.
The increase in patrol and the installation of new surveillance systems along the beaches and strategic coastal areas was also confirmed by the Security Agencies. The Mumbai Police also confirmed the statewide declaration of alerts for the coastal areas in Mumbai and its suburbs.
Instructed Mobile and Static Surveillance Units Must Work in Tandem
The Mumbai Police Commissioner, Vivek Phansalkar, ordered patrol units to ensure the presence of at least one officer in every sector during nighttime so that he may observe actions throughout the night and increase vigilance as instructed.
As a part of these emerging legal actions, the Indian government imposed a complete cancellation beyond the previously determined April 27 date for any active visas in possession of Pakistani citizens. After a meeting of the Cabinet Committee of Security (CCS), these consequences were stated. As determined by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, medical visas will only be permitted until April 29.
Stringent Security Measures Taken For Safety Due To Terror Threat
The Pahalgam attack has intensified security restrictions across the nation even beyond the borders of Mumbai:
Jaipur, Rajasthan: Complete state alert; increased police presence in Aper Fort and Jaiper Junction.
Amritsar, Punjab: With rising security concerns, additional forces have been deployed to golden temple and other places near the indo-pak border.
Uttar Pradesh: Directed to strengthen security for dense population and religious sites, police are instructed to control potential threats.
The Pahalgam Attack Background:
