Suspense crime, Digital Desk : MI New York, the defending champions of Major League Cricket, have secured their first victory of the 2024 season, clinching a thrilling three-wicket win over the Seattle Orcas, thanks to a spectacular, unbeaten innings from Monank Patel.

Chasing a competitive target of 178 at Grand Prairie Stadium, MI New York found their anchor and hero in Monank. The USA captain constructed a masterful innings, holding the chase together even as wickets tumbled around him. He showed remarkable composure and skill, blending powerful hitting with smart rotation of the strike. While big-hitter Tim David fell for a golden duck, Monank remained resolute, guiding his team toward the finish line.

The match concluded in dramatic fashion. With the game in the balance, all-rounder Michael Bracewell, who had already contributed with the ball, strode to the crease and sealed the victory with a massive six, leaving Monank stranded but triumphant on a brilliant 96 not out from just 54 balls.

Earlier, the Seattle Orcas had put up a strong total of 177 for 6, built on a solid foundation laid by Shubham Ranjane, who scored a well-made 57. The innings was given a powerful boost by the explosive Heinrich Klaasen, who smashed a quickfire 42. For MI New York, Michael Bracewell was the standout bowler, picking up crucial wickets to keep the Orcas' total in check.

However, the day belonged to Monank Patel, whose magnificent performance not only earned him the Man of the Match award but also got the champions' campaign back on track after their opening-game loss.
