A disturbing incident surfaced on Monday in Madanpur village under the Gopiganj police station of Bhadohi district, Uttar Pradesh. While local farmers were threshing in the field, a strange smell from a nearby dry well raised suspicion. Upon checking, they noticed what looked like a human skeleton and immediately informed the police.

Identification and Police Response

The remains were retrieved with the help of divers. Police confirmed that the skeleton was located approximately 250 meters from the missing person's residence. The body was identified as Mukesh Kumar Bind (35) by his wife Rekha Devi, based on the clothing.

Mukesh had been missing since December 30, 2024. The police, led by Additional SP Shubham Agarwal, arrived on the scene to supervise the recovery and investigation.

Allegations and Case Background

On January 20, 2025, Rekha Devi had filed a complaint against Nebul Bind, a resident of the same village, claiming that he had threatened her husband after a dispute. She stated that Nebul had lured Mukesh with a job opportunity, after which Mukesh disappeared.

Following her complaint, a case under Section 140(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered against Nebul. Police now confirm that Nebul Bind has been taken into custody for questioning in connection to the incident.

Victim's Family Situation

Mukesh was a carpet labourer and the youngest among six brothers. He is survived by his wife, five daughters, and one son. The family had been actively searching for him since his disappearance.

Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik confirmed that a post-mortem is underway and that the investigation is continuing to determine the exact cause of death and possible involvement of others.
