There is a ruckus over the statement given by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. The round of allegations and counter-allegations between Congress and BJP continues regarding Baba Saheb. Meanwhile, now the reaction of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) President and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Mayawati has come to the fore. She has described Congress and BJP as two sides of the same coin on this issue. She said that the parties doing vote bank politics in the name of Baba Saheb only ignore him, whereas it was during the BSP government that great saints and great men born in the Bahujan Samaj got respect.
Told the parties that they are of the same ilk
Reacting on the social media platform ‘X’, Mayawati said, “There is huge anger among the people across the country over the disrespect shown to the most revered Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar by Amit Shah in the Parliament, but the haste of the Congress party, which has always hurt his neglect and his struggle in the interest of the country, regarding this is pure deception and selfish politics.” She further wrote, “Congress and BJP etc. are two sides of the same coin when it comes to doing selfish politics of votes of his followers in the name of Baba Saheb and all the parties are engaged in a conspiracy to hurt BSP to stop the caravan of self-respect of Baba Saheb from moving forward.
The BSP supremo further said, “In reality, great saints, gurus and great men born in the Bahujan Samaj, including Baba Saheb, got full respect and honour only in the BSP government, which these casteist parties cannot digest. Especially the SP, out of malice, even changed the names of new districts, new institutions and public welfare schemes etc.”
This allegation was made on Samajwadi Party
Mayawati attacked Congress and BJP and said that both the parties use the name of Baba Saheb, but their policies are not in the interest of the poor and downtrodden sections of the society. BSP alleges that these casteist parties have exploited the ideals of Baba Saheb only for their own selfish interests, whereas concrete steps were taken in his honour only in her government. BSP also took on Samajwadi Party (SP), accusing it of changing the names of many districts and institutions recently. BSP says that SP changed the names of new districts and schemes while working with a spirit of malice, so that the symbols of Bahujan Samaj and their importance could be denied.
