Suspense crime, Digital Desk : A fierce encounter has broken out between security forces and Naxalite insurgents deep within the dense forests of Abujhmad in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district, a region considered a core Maoist stronghold.
The gunfight began early on Tuesday morning as a joint team of security personnel was conducting a large-scale anti-Naxal operation. According to senior police officials, the operation was launched from multiple districts, with teams from the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF), and the 53rd battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) moving in from Narayanpur and Kondagaon.
The heavy exchange of fire started around 6 AM in the forested area near the villages of Kutul, Farsabeda, and Kodtameta. This region of Abujhmad is notoriously difficult to access and has long served as a safe haven and training ground for Naxalite cadres.
The operation was planned to target a significant gathering of insurgents in the area. As the security forces were cordoning off the area, they came under heavy fire from the Naxalites, leading to the ongoing gunbattle.
At present, there are no immediate reports of casualties on either side. The operation is still underway, and further details are expected as the situation develops.
