Mohanlal’s iconic film Lucifer is set to re-release in theatres on March 20, just a week before the much-awaited sequel, L2 Empuraan, hits the screens on March 27. Originally released in 2019, Lucifer became a massive hit, earning a remarkable Rs 127 crore at the box office. However, the re-release of this blockbuster may not make a significant impact at the ticket window this time around.

Day 1 Box Office Prediction

According to trade analyst Ramesh Bala, the Lucifer re-release is expected to start slow. Bala predicts that the film may earn only Rs 50 lakh on the first day, acknowledging that the film is likely to make a limited impact at the box office.

“I am not expecting much from it. Maybe it will do around Rs 50 lakh. The film is releasing just because L2 Empuraan is a week away. It’s not a standalone release. People can also revisit Lucifer on OTT if they want to get into its world again,” Bala explained in an interview with Indiatimes.

The Current Phase of Mohanlal’s Career

The re-release comes at a time when Mohanlal is experiencing a lean phase in his career, with none of his recent films performing well at the box office, except for Neru. His directorial debut, Barroz, also failed at the box office, adding to the pressure on his upcoming projects.

Despite this, Lucifer holds a special place in the hearts of fans, and the film's return to theatres provides them with an opportunity to relive the cinematic experience.

L2 Empuraan: The Highly Anticipated Sequel

As the excitement builds for the Lucifer sequel, L2 Empuraan, the film is set to delve deeper into the protagonist’s relationship with his trusted aide and explore his rise to prominence.

Mohanlal returns as the lead, with a star-studded cast including Prithviraj, Indrajith, Manju Warrier, and Tovino Thomas. Directed by Prithviraj, L2 Empuraan is expected to pick up where Lucifer left off, bringing even more action, drama, and intensity to the saga. Fans are eagerly awaiting the sequel, with the film slated to release in theatres on March 27.
