Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra, currently facing backlash over his remarks on Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has released a provocative new video that both satirizes government narratives and shows the vandalism of his performance venue by Shiv Sena workers.

Parody Song Critiques Current Climate

In the video shared on social media Tuesday, Kamra performs a satirical rendition of the patriotic song “Hum Honge Kamyab,” which he rebrands as the anthem of “Viksit Bharat.” His version, titled “Hum Honge Kangaal,” delivers sharp political commentary through dark humor.

Lyrics from the parody include:

“Mann mein andhvishwas, desh ka satyanash, hum honge kangaal ek din...”

He continues:

“Honge nange chaaro or, karenge dange chaaro or, police ke pange chaaro or, ek din...”

“Mann mein Nathuram, harkatein Asaram, hum honge kangaal ek din…”

The song uses irony to critique rising misinformation, violence, and political idolization, pointing toward perceived social and political decay.

Shiv Sena Vandalism Featured in the Video

Kamra’s video also shows Shiv Sena supporters vandalizing the Mumbai studio—The Habitat—where he performed the controversial stand-up set mocking Shinde. The clip underscores the intensity of the backlash he is facing.

Background of the Controversy

The controversy erupted after a video surfaced of Kamra parodying a song from Dil Toh Pagal Hai, in which he allegedly referred to Eknath Shinde as a “gaddar” (traitor), mocking Maharashtra’s recent political realignments.

Following the viral clip, Shiv Sena workers attacked the venue and demanded action against the comedian. Kamra is also facing a police summons in connection with the case.

Kamra’s latest video reinforces his refusal to back down, continuing his tradition of political satire amid growing scrutiny.
