New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a surprise call to Britain’s King Charles III on Thursday and had a long conversation with him. During the conversation with Charles-III, the Prime Minister reiterated his commitment to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and Britain. During this, they exchanged views on issues of mutual interest including Commonwealth, climate action and sustainability and wished King Charles III good health and well-being.
After this, PM Modi said in a post on ‘X’, “It was a pleasure to talk with King Charles III of Britain today. Reiterated the commitment to strengthen India-UK relations. Exchanged views on issues of mutual interest including Commonwealth, climate action and sustainability.” The Prime Minister said, “Wished him (Charles III) better health and well-being.” Meanwhile, a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said that Modi recalled the historical relations between the two countries in a conversation with Charles III and reiterated the commitment to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and Britain.

The PMO said that they exchanged views on the recently concluded Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa and the Commonwealth Nations. During this, the two also discussed many topics of mutual interest, including climate action and sustainability. The PMO said, “The Prime Minister appreciated King Charles’s continued advocacy and initiatives on these issues and informed him about many initiatives taken by India.” Both exchanged good wishes on the upcoming occasions of Christmas and New Year.
