MahaKumbh 2025: The mega Mahakumbh, known to be the most populous of congregations in the world, is anticipated to begin on Monday, 13th of January 2025 which also happens to be Ponsha Purnima Devotees and hermits from all over the world are expected to gather at the holy site of Triveni Sangam which is in Prayagraj for a holy dip in water thus summoning their absolute devotion towards their faith.

The period begins from the Makar Sankranti transition when the sun enters Capricorn to the 12th day of the Magh month. This is the same transition in which Kalpwas starts, and it starts from Pausha Purnima (January 13) in the year 2025. Brahma is believed to have devoted a day’s worth of time for Brahma Kalpwa which in Hindu scriptures serves as a devotion to Kalpwashing during the time period in which Sun transitions to Capricorn.

On this day along with the Pausha Purnima, a special amulets and charms will be dipped in the holy rivers and lakes marking the starting point of the one month long ardhanarishvara puja. Rules Of Kalpwas:
The time period of Kalpwas is divided into six, and in each of these six, followers are required to wear a specific colored garment. Although the garments are needed to be worn according to the set color requirements, the rules are far more harder. Dattatreya compiled 21 of them in the Padma Purana which he outlined. But, the major of them are more simply defined.

Devotees who perform Kalpwas with such sincerity and devotion are said to be blessed with divinity and freedom from the cycle of birth and rebirth. The Mahabharata mentions that a devotee undertaking Kalpwas in the Magh month gains in merit equal to that one hundred years of fasting without any food. The practice of Kaal Karpavas brings in peace, Ishvashakti etc, in the life of the devotees.
