In the first weekend of release, Kesari featured Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, and Ananya Panday drove strong ticket sales of the film. However, the collection dropped massively on day 4. The film plummetted by 61,75% on Monday, April 21, earning only 4.59 crore net across India.  

Weekday Collection Vs Weeked Collection  

Taran Adarsh, a trade analyst remarked on the plunging weekday collection, stating the film's initial weekend growth highlighted strong turnout in Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Pune and even Kolkota, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow Bhopal and Chandigarh saw some boost during the weekend.  However,sustaining these gains through the weekdays remains an issue.  

Fellow film analyst Sumit Kadel stated the film needed to hit a basemark of 6 crore on Monday, which they did not achieve, stating the film withered at 3.30 crore. Thus the film becomes heavily reliant on the Tuesday to Thursday stretch.

So far recovered

Throughout a period of four days after the releases, the movie Kesari Chapter 2 has made a domestic collection of ₹34.09 crores as net collections. The movie also made ₹49.75 crores on an international level during the first three days itself. The breakdown candor that ₹35.25 crores was from India while ₹14.5 crores was from the overseas market. There are also other figures that state a net collection of ₹29.62 crores in the first three days.

Film Brief

The movie is produced by Dharma Productions along with Leo Media Collective and Cape Of Good Films. Other than Akshay Kumar, who plays the lead character of C. Sankaran Nair, the movie also casts Regina Cassandra, Simon Paisley Day and Alexx O'Nell. Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh is directed by Karan Singh Tyagi where he highlights the harsh reality faced by C. Sankaran Nair , a lawyer, after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919. The screenplay is taken from the novel ‘The Case that Shook the Empire’ written by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat.
