Conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), this online procedure is the gateway to securing a seat in top engineering, pharmacy, and other professional courses across the state.
Navigating the multi-stage counseling process can be daunting. Here is a clear, step-by-step guide to help you through it.
Step 1: The Foundation - Document Verification
This is the first and most crucial step. Before you can choose your preferred colleges, you must get your original documents verified by the KEA. This process confirms your eligibility based on your rank, category, and other criteria.
Essential Documents You Will Need:
- KCET 2025 Application Form printout
- KCET 2025 Admit Card
- Proof of fee payment
- 10th Standard (SSLC) marks card
- 2nd PUC / 12th Standard marks card
- Study Certificate signed by the Block Educational Officer (BEO)
- Two recent passport-sized photographs
- Caste/Income Certificate (if applicable)
- Kannada Medium Certificate (if applicable)

Step 2: Making Your Choices - Option Entry
Once your documents are successfully verified, you will be eligible to participate in the "option entry" process. Here, you get to create a prioritized list of colleges and courses you wish to join. Step 3: The Trial Run - Mock Allotment
KEA conducts a mock allotment before the real one. This is a trial run based on the options you've entered. It gives you a realistic idea of which college and course you are likely to be allotted. Based on this mock result, you will have a final chance to review and modify your choices.
Step 4: The Final Decision - Real Seat Allotment
After you finalize your options, the KEA will process the first round of actual seat allotment. The results will be published on the official KEA website. This result will show the specific college and course that has been allocated to you based on your rank and choices.
Step 5: What's Next? - Post-Allotment Actions
After a seat is allotted, you will have a few choices:
- Accept and Freeze: You are happy with the seat and do not wish to participate in further rounds.
- Accept and Upgrade: You accept the seat but want to see if you can get a better one in the next round.
- Reject and Upgrade: You are not happy with the seat but wish to participate in the next round for a better option.
- Withdraw: You do not want the allotted seat and wish to exit the counseling process.
Students who accept a seat must download the admission order from the KEA portal, pay the required fees, and report to their allotted college within the specified deadline to confirm their admission.
