The spiritual capital of India, Varanasi (Kashi), is gearing up for a historic celebration of Hanuman Jayanti 2026. This year, the city is set to witness a "Dhwaj Yatra" (Flag Procession) of unprecedented scale, turning the streets into a sea of saffron in honor of Lord Hanuman.
A Grand Spectacle: 1 Lakh Flags & 1,100 Gadas The organizers have announced that over 1 lakh saffron flags (Dhwaj) will be carried during the yatra. Adding to the grandeur, a dedicated group of 1,100 'Gada' (Mace) bearers will lead the procession, symbolizing the strength and devotion of the 'Bajrangi' devotees. The event is expected to draw lakhs of pilgrims from across the country, making it one of the largest religious gatherings in Uttar Pradesh this year.
Route and Rituals The yatra will weave through the historic lanes of Kashi, passing through major temples and ghats. Special security arrangements are being put in place by the local administration to ensure the smooth flow of the massive crowd. Devotees plan to chant the Hanuman Chalisa and "Jai Shri Ram" throughout the march, creating an atmosphere of intense spiritual energy.
Kashi’s Unique Celebration While Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated nationwide, the fervor in Varanasi is unique due to its deep-rooted connection with Lord Shiva and His 11th Rudra Avatar—Lord Hanuman. Local artisans are working day and night to prepare the flags and decorative maces for the participants.
Timing and Significance Hanuman Jayanti 2026 marks a significant date in the Hindu calendar. For those planning to visit Kashi, the city is transforming into a hub of "Bhakti" and "Shakti." Local authorities have advised travelers to check the official route map to avoid traffic congestion during the peak hours of the yatra.
