During the IIFA Awards 2025, Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor remembered her legendary actor grandfather Raj Kapoor while paying tribute on stage.  

This weekend, Kareena flew to Jaipur for the Indian Academy Awards and was spotted dancing to her grandfather's popular songs such as “Mera Joota Hai Japani,” Ito from Shree 420. She even wore an outfit resembling that of Raj Kapoor sahab's to honor him on his 100th birth anniversary.  

Kareena received widespread praise from her fans and colleagues during the green carpet occasion.  

The 25th edition of the silver IIFA awards occurred during this weekend in Jaipur.  

Besides “Joota Hai Japani,” Kareena also performed a mashup of her grandfather’s hit songs "Pyar Hua Ikraar Hua" and others.

A video of Kareena’s performance was shared by IIFA on Instagram with the following caption: “We are absolutely in love with this splendid tribute to Raj Kapoor by undoubted diva, Kareena Kapoor for our Silver Jubilee celebration! #IIFA2025 #RajasthanTourism #IIFAJaipur #NEXA #CreateInspire #SobhaxIIFA”



Many fans took to the comments and started praising her. One of them commented: ….'the performance was dazzling.'

Another said: "The best heir of Raj Kapoor paying tribute to him."

A different fan added: "Kareena Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor are indeed living up to the Raj kapoor legacy."

Kareena had mentioned how she was looking forward to the performance at IFFA 2025.  “I am thrilled to return to the IIFA stage after so many years and what better time for their Silver Jubilee Edition. In a sense, IIFA's journey and mine have almost run parallel - we’re celebrating together 25 years in cinema. This performance is especially dear to my heart as it pays homage to my iconic grandfather, Raj Kapoor, who’s 100th birth anniversary was celebrated with immense love throughout the country recently.

I feel as though words could not begin to express how surreal it is for me to be part of this celebration of legacy, family, and the eternal magic of cinema. She mentioned this in a press note. Raj Kapoor was one of the most noteworthy personalities of Indian cinema, and most of his films focused on social problems. Raj Kapoor, who was an actor, director, and producer, single-handedly changed Bollywood with the distinct style of telling the story. Raj Kapoor's films, besides being great, also helped create a place for Indian cinema in the world.
