Suspense crime, Digital Desk : The new emotional horror-drama Maa, starring the acclaimed actress Kajol, has made a powerful debut at the box office, earning an impressive ₹17.40 crore in its first three days. The film's strong performance is being driven by overwhelmingly positive word-of-mouth from audiences.
The movie, produced by Ajay Devgn under his banner Devgn Ffilms, kicked off its theatrical run with a solid ₹3.15 crore on Friday. The real story, however, was the incredible growth on its second day. On Saturday, collections saw a staggering 138% jump, soaring to ₹7.50 crore as more viewers flocked to theaters.
The momentum continued into its first Sunday, with the film bringing in a strong ₹6.75 crore. This consistent performance, especially the massive Saturday surge, indicates that the film's unique blend of horror and emotion is deeply resonating with moviegoers.
Despite facing competition from other releases like the biopic Srikanth and the Hollywood blockbuster Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Maa has successfully carved out its own audience. The film's ability to not only open well but also grow significantly over the weekend positions it for a successful run in the coming weeks. All eyes will now be on its performance during the crucial weekday period to see if it can maintain its impressive hold.
