Suspense crime, Digital Desk : In an interview with the Indian news agency ANI, Bolton went on to say “This is Donald Trump. He takes credit for everything,” dismissing the much-anticipated remarks. Bolton, still the US National Security advisor, claims “It wasn’t personal to India. That’s just how he operates.”
Bolton’s comments come after Indian officials were quite vocal in stating that there was absolutely no third-party involvement in the negotiation between India and Pakistan and any claims to the contrary are fabricated.
India's Right to Self-Defense
Bolton appeared quite self-assured while defending India’s act of self-defense pertaining to the massacre at Pahalgam wherein over 26 tourists were killed. He said, “ India was entitled to act in self-defense against areas inside Pakistan where there was planning and execution of the attack.” According to him, there is a clear need for Pakistan to be held responsible for the terrorism that is permitted on its soil because otherwise, he warns, there will be very dire consequences.
Concerns regarding Pakistan’s stability
Bolton has also commented on the recent events in Pakistan, especially the elevation of Army Chief Gen Asim Munir to Field Marshal, calling it a “worrying sign.” Suppression of discontent in the country, like the arrest of Imran Khan, suggests the country is unstable and is not in Pakistan’s interests.
Support for India’s awareness campaign
Supporting India’s decision to send an all-party parliamentary delegation to partner nations to create awareness regarding terrorism for the purpose of mobilizing support, Bolton said, “It’s vital for the world to know the nature of these assaults. Civilians should never have to live in fear of terrorism.”
Both nations granted a ceasefire understanding on May 10 after a four-day military standoff which followed Operation Sindoor. The battle ceased when Pakistan’s DGMO reached out to his Indian counterpart for a cessation of hostilities.
