Mass Protests and DC-SP Office Gheraos Planned From September 8 to 11 Over Student FIRs and Recruitment Scandals

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has escalated its political confrontation with the state administration in Jharkhand following the expiration of its 48-hour ultimatum. Spearheaded by State BJP President Aditya Sahu, the party has announced a massive, multi-district statewide agitation to demand the immediate withdrawal of FIRs lodged against protesting students and an independent Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into all recruitment examinations conducted over the past seven years.
Four-Day Statewide Gherao Across All 24 Districts
Addressing a press conference at the state party headquarters in Ranchi on Friday, Aditya Sahu confirmed that after receiving no tangible response to a high-level memorandum submitted to the Chief Secretary, the party is shifting its strategy to direct grassroots mobilization. BJP workers and leaders will stage massive demonstrations and gherao district headquarters, including Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Superintendent of Police (SP) offices, across all 24 districts of Jharkhand for four consecutive days starting September 8.
The district-wise protest schedule has been finalized as follows:
September 8: Ranchi, Dumka, Hazaribagh, Giridih, Jamshedpur, and Garhwa
September 9: Koderma, Sahibganj, Bokaro, Palamu, Simdega, and Chaibasa
September 10: Saraikela, Pakur, Dhanbad, Gumla, Latehar, and Chatra
September 11: Ramgarh, Deoghar, Lohardaga, Khunti, Godda, and Jamtara
Condemning Police Crackdown and Alleged Corruption in Recruitment
Aditya Sahu launched a scathing attack on the ruling coalition, accusing the police of attempting to instill fear by conducting late-night raids on students' homes and intimidating local coaching center operators. Highlighting the peaceful nature of the local student agitations compared to protests elsewhere, Sahu criticized the administration for filing criminal cases against 1,000 students while questioning the integrity of recruitment exams. Furthermore, he alleged that the ruling alliance partners—Congress, JMM, and RJD—have engaged in widespread job corruption and lost faith in executive governance, pledging that the BJP will stand firmly with the youth in their pursuit of justice.
