CM Nayab Singh Saini Pushes for Advanced Manufacturing, Startups, and Industrial Expansion

With unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology transforming modern industries worldwide, the Haryana government has set its sights on positioning the state as the premier "Drone Capital" of India. During a high-level departmental review meeting held at the Haryana Civil Secretariat in Chandigarh, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini issued direct directives to accelerate drone manufacturing, advanced technical research, and youth-led tech startups across the region.
Boosting Drone Manufacturing, Research, and Employment
Addressing senior officials during a presentation by the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC), Chief Minister Saini emphasized that the growing global and domestic demand for drone technology presents a massive economic opportunity for the state:
Exploring Industry Potential: The government is actively shaping policies to harness UAV applications in agriculture, logistics, defense, and surveillance.
Empowering Youth and Startups: By encouraging tech startups focused on drone innovation and offering specialized technical education, the state aims to generate high-value employment opportunities for youth.
Plug-and-Play Industrial Support: Officials were instructed to provide modern plug-and-play facilities to incoming industries to streamline manufacturing operations.
Expanding Industrial Model Townships (IMTs) Across Haryana
Dr. Amit Kumar Agarwal, Commissioner and Secretary of the Industries and Commerce Department, briefed the Chief Minister on the state's robust industrial network. Currently, six major Industrial Model Townships (IMTs) are fully operational across Manesar, Bawal, Rohtak, Sohna, Faridabad, and Kharkhoda, equipped with comprehensive urban infrastructure including worker housing, warehouses, and innovation centers.
To meet soaring industrial demand, the government has unveiled major expansion blueprints:
Expanding Existing Hubs: Kharkhoda, Kosli, Bawal, Sohna, and Faridabad-Palwal IMTs are slated for large-scale expansion.
Developing 10 New IMTs: New industrial zones are planned in strategic locations including Naraingarh, Ambala, Jind, Murthal-Gannaur, and Rai, complete with dedicated service centers in each township.
Creating World-Class, Sustainable Industrial Zones
To attract global investment, Chief Minister Saini stressed that all IMTs must match international standards of infrastructure quality. Directives have been issued to upgrade green spaces, road networks, and sanitation facilities, while prioritizing Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems to ensure sustainable water management and tackle industrial pollution. Furthermore, an enabling fund of ₹500 crore has been established to upgrade infrastructure in older industrial estates, ensuring seamless rail-road connectivity, green energy integration, and state-of-the-art research and development centers.
