Jharkhand Govt Resumes Talks with Students, Highlights Major Concessions and ED Probe Recommendations
The political and administrative standoff in Ranchi reached a critical juncture on the 24th day of the ongoing student agitation. As talks resume between the Jharkhand government and protesting aspirants demanding a thorough overhaul of recruitment exams, Health Minister Deepika Pandey Singh stepped forward to detail the administration's proactive measures. Emphasizing the government’s commitment to transparency, the minister outlined several key concessions aimed at addressing the core grievances surrounding alleged irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC examinations.
Key Government Concessions and Cancellation of Exams
Addressing the media ahead of the scheduled negotiations, Minister Deepika Pandey Singh confirmed that the state government has officially accepted the cancellation of the controversial 14th JPSC examination and its associated backlog exams. Furthermore, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) has already initiated a rigorous probe into examinations conducted by TDPL. In a major development addressing the students' persistent demands for central oversight, the minister stated that the government is fully prepared to formally write to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to recommend a federal investigation into emerging financial irregularities tied to the recruitment scandal.
JSSC-CGL Transparency and Fast-Track Court Trials
On the contentious issue of the JSSC-CGL examinations, the minister clarified that results have been released and appointment letters successfully dispatched to candidates in strict accordance with Supreme Court directives. Acknowledging that the matter remains sub judice, the government has assured student representatives that the ongoing CID investigation will be subjected to strict judicial monitoring. Additionally, the administration has set an ambitious target to complete the investigation within 90 days, following which the matter will be fast-tracked through special judicial courts to ensure swift accountability.
Reforming the Recruitment System for the Future
Beyond immediate administrative actions, Minister Deepika Pandey Singh acknowledged that the protesters' central demand revolves around systemic structural reform. She noted that modernizing and transparency-proofing recruitment frameworks is an urgent necessity—not only in Jharkhand but across the country. As the crucial round of dialogue progresses today, all eyes remain fixed on whether these concrete government proposals will successfully satisfy the student agitators and bring a definitive resolution to the month-long movement.
