Eastern Railway Announces 10 Pairs of Puja Special Trains for Festive Season With Key Stoppages at Jamtara

To effectively manage the massive surge of passenger traffic during the upcoming peak festive season encompassing Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath, Eastern Railway has announced the operation of 10 pairs of special festival trains across multiple high-demand routes. Providing a major logistical boost for travelers heading toward Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and other North Indian destinations, these special services are designed to alleviate chronic overcrowding on regular express trains. Crucially for regional commuters, two pairs of these special trains have been officially designated with convenient stoppages at Jamtara station, ensuring seamless connectivity for local residents.

Key Routes, Schedules, and Jamtara Stoppages

The newly announced festive line-up features several key routes tailored to holiday crowds. Two pairs of Howrah-Raxaul Puja special trains will operate on Thursdays and Saturdays, with scheduled halts at major junctions including Chittaranjan, Madhupur, and Jasidih. Additionally, weekly Sealdah-Patna specials will run on Tuesdays, Sealdah-Sitamarhi specials on Fridays, and Sealdah-Gorakhpur services on Tuesdays and Thursdays, alongside dedicated Kolkata-Madhubani specials running on Tuesdays and Fridays.

For passengers boarding from Jamtara, two specific services provide direct convenience:

Asansol-Patna Puja Special (03511/03512): Operating every Sunday from October 18 to November 29, this service will feature convenient bidirectional halts at Chittaranjan, Jamtara, Madhupur, and Jasidih.

Asansol-Gorakhpur Puja Special (03527/03528): Running every Friday and Saturday, this train will also provide dedicated passenger stoppages at Jamtara in both directions.

Furthermore, the Malda Town-Digha Puja Special (03465/03466) will operate every Saturday and Sunday, servicing major hubs such as Pakur, Rampurhat, Bolpur Shantiniketan, and Bardhaman. To cater to diverse passenger preferences, all operational festival special trains will feature a comprehensive configuration of general second-class, sleeper, and air-conditioned coaches.
