Post

The historic and sacred Baba Baidyanath Temple in Deoghar, Jharkhand—one of the twelve revered Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva—continues to draw global reverence, cementing its status as an eternal beacon of faith and spiritual devotion. As the holy month of Shravani Mela approaches its final week, the temple town is overflowing with unmatched spiritual fervor, welcoming millions of domestic pilgrims alongside international devotees.

International Devotees and Foreign Currencies in Donation Boxes

The divine pull of the Manokamna Linga extends far beyond national borders. This season, Sanatanis and spiritual seekers from various foreign nations—including Bhutan, Thailand, the UAE, Nepal, and Guyana—have traveled to Deoghar to offer holy Ganga water and sacred Bael leaves to Lord Bholenath.

This global devotion is vividly reflected in the temple's official records. The temple premises house 18 dedicated donation boxes, which are periodically opened under strict administrative supervision. Recent counts revealed foreign currency notes from Nepal, Bhutan, Guyana, the UAE, and Thailand inside the temple coffers alongside Indian currency, highlighting Baba Baidyanath's growing prominence on the international religious tourism map, largely supported by Deoghar's expanding air connectivity.

Record-Breaking Footfall and 'Sheeghra Darshanam' Revenue

With the Shravani Mela slated to conclude on August 28, the 24-day milestone of the ongoing fair recorded over 48.33 lakh (4.83 million) devotees offering ritualistic water (Jalarpan). The temple administration's streamlined arrangements, including the Sheeghra Darshanam (priority darshan) facility, have significantly improved crowd management. Over 1.76 lakh devotees utilized the priority facility this season, generating a substantial ₹6.33 crore for the temple treasury. Daily coupon sales touched unprecedented records of 15,000 to 16,000 pilgrims—a massive jump compared to previous years—demonstrating how upgraded infrastructure and administrative efficiency continue to enhance the pilgrimage experience for millions.
