Jhansi: Woman Allegedly Murdered by Husband and Boyfriend During Liquor Party, 12-Year-Old Daughter Informs Police:

A tragic incident unfolded in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, where a woman named Sangeeta, the daughter-in-law of the brother of a former minister, was allegedly murdered by her husband and his friend during a liquor party. The case came to light after Sangeeta's 12-year-old daughter informed the police about the incident.

Dispute During Alcohol Consumption Turned Violent

The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon in the Lakshmi Gate area. As per the police, Rohit, a friend of the victim’s husband, visited the house and brought liquor. Sangeeta, her husband Ravindra, and Rohit consumed alcohol together in the bedroom.

An argument broke out during the session, which escalated into physical violence. Both Ravindra and Rohit allegedly assaulted Sangeeta and strangled her to death while under the influence of alcohol.

Child Witness Reported the Incident

Sangeeta’s daughter, upon hearing shouting and distress from the room, knocked on the door but received no response. Frightened, she approached a tenant, Shakuntala, for help. Shakuntala then alerted the police.

Police broke into the room and found Sangeeta's body lying on the bed. Her husband and Rohit were present at the scene, reportedly intoxicated. The room was strewn with liquor bottles, food, and personal belongings.

Signs of Assault and Rape

According to police, Sangeeta's body bore visible signs of physical assault, with injuries to her face, eyes, and neck. Preliminary observations suggest that she may have been raped before being murdered, although confirmation awaits the postmortem report.

History of Domestic Conflict and Local Inaction

Locals revealed that the household was frequently disturbed by domestic quarrels and alcohol parties. Despite several disturbances, neighbors refrained from reporting the issue, allegedly due to the family's political connections.

Police Statement and Investigation

Superintendent of Police Gyanendra Kumar Singh stated that the body has been sent for postmortem, and further action will depend on the findings. Both Ravindra and Rohit are currently under police custody and are being interrogated. Authorities are investigating the motive and whether others were involved in the crime.

Two Children Left Orphaned

The deceased woman leaves behind two children—a 12-year-old daughter and a 9-year-old son—who are now orphaned following the tragic event. The police and local administration are working to ensure appropriate care and protection for the children.
