Suspense crime, Digital Desk : In the world of star-studded cinema, even a simple choice of words can ignite a firestorm. Veteran actor Nagarjuna Akkineni found himself at the center of one such controversy after his comments at a promotional event for the highly anticipated film Kubera sparked backlash from fans of his co-star, Dhanush.
The issue arose when Nagarjuna, speaking with pride about the upcoming movie, referred to it as "my film." This seemingly innocuous statement was interpreted by many of Dhanush's ardent followers as an attempt to sideline their favorite star and take sole credit for the multi-starrer project. Social media was quickly flooded with criticism, with fans pointing out that Kubera is a collaborative effort also featuring National Award-winner Dhanush and popular actress Rashmika Mandanna in leading roles.
Responding to the growing discontent, Nagarjuna has now issued a clarification to put the matter to rest. In a new statement, he smoothed things over by explaining his perspective and praising his co-star.
"When I said it's 'my film,' I meant it in the sense that it belongs to all of us who worked on it. It is everybody's film," Nagarjuna explained. "Whatever film I am a part of, I always feel that sense of ownership."
He went on to lavish praise on Dhanush, emphasizing his respect for the actor's talent. "Dhanush is a powerhouse performer, a two-time National Award winner," he added, aiming to dispel any notion of a rivalry or disrespect.
Directed by the acclaimed Sekhar Kammula, Kubera is one of the most awaited pan-Indian films, bringing together top talent from both the Telugu and Tamil film industries. Nagarjuna's swift clarification seeks to shift the focus back from online controversy to the creative collaboration and cinematic spectacle that the film promises to deliver.
