On Friday, Netanyahu’s office announced the dismissal of Israel’s Shin Bet head Ronen Bar after the government approved the proposal early that morning.

"Ironically, I have no doubt that Ronen Bar will be satisfying his duties on the 10th of April or if a permanent appointed Director of ISA is put in place before then,” the office further stated.

During the past week, Netanyahu notified the Shin Bet director that he will seek government approval to dismiss Bar’s position this week.

“I have no doubt he is going to execute the plan but he certainly has lost my trust a long time ago, and allowing him to exercise control over the security detail for head of the government, which includes terror countering, especially during a war is complete lunacy”, Bar justified in reasoning.

In wake of Israeli citizens captured as hostages in Gaza, it still remains to be seen how badly the Israeli government will be scrutinized for the Israeli offensive in Gaza after these hostages were set in place.

The conflict stems from the sudden warfare Hamas inflicted on the territory of Israel on the 7th of October in 2023 which, based on Israel’s approximation, resulted in close to 1,200 deaths and the 251 citizens that were captured and placed in Gaza as hostages.

According to Palestinian health officials, the Israeli campaign has killed more than 49,000 people in Gaza and generated a humanitarian disaster marked by inadequate nourishment, fuel, and water.
