Chennai Super Kings CSK are having a tough IPL 2025 season, managing a meager two of eight wins. Their latest defeat—a crushing nine-wicket loss to Mumbai Indians—has them stranded at the bottom and close to early elimination.

A Chat With the Umpire: Dhoni Sparks Buzz with His Animated Discussion

The CSK captain was seriously discussing Dhoni with the umpire over a video session that during the CSK match.
He had a long chat right after the match. Instead of treating the post match formalities where the captains shake hands with the umpires, CSK skipper walked up to the umpire, he had a strong argument.

Dhoni Called Crazy and Said Needs to Be the Realist

During his post match comments, he acknowledged that there is a difficult road ahead.

“We need to know why we manage to win is veterans with good experience backing the squad and playing good cricket. When the situation is not very good as bounding edges, staying in not get too emotional yeah phai nahi no children beating the logic tum bas distract kya chai almost like why to get deprived” said Dhoni.

He attributed the team’s lackluster performance in 2020 at an equally difficult phase as CSK was as example even when moods are down as focus is needed to be on playing disciplined cricket and access if players are able to execute themselves.

Shift Focus Towards Next Season

With the hopes of batting for the mixing pots Dhoni allowed comments focus on the plank backed defaults on the skip forward for the remaining outings

“We have to think about constructing a good eleven for next year if we lose a couple more. We don’t want to change the squad too much. It’s still the priority to qualify, but if we don’t, we should make sure we come back strong with a settled team,” he added.  

Looking Ahead  

While CSK fans brace themselves for an unfortunate early elimination, the team's management seems to be focused on moving strategically forward – looking to end IPL 2025 on a more purposeful note, and preparing for a comeback next year.
